Fitness Tips (stretching)

  Sternum Pull-ups:

Beginning with your arms fully extended, pull yourself to the bar, extend your head back as far as possible and arch your spine. Your back will be at a 45 degree angle to the floor. Keep pulling until your collarbone passes the bar and your sternum touches the bar.
     
 

Tip:

To really fry your subcapularis muscles, which are located under your shoulder blades, try this not-so-pleasant variation: At the top of the movement after your sternum has made contact with the bar, push yourself away from the bar and lower yourself under control.

     

Nutrition Tips

 

Cantaloupe Berry Delight :

1 1/2 cups cantaloupe, peeled, cut into 1/2 - inch to 1 inch pieces.
1 1/2 cups quartered strawberries.
1 cup green grapes
1/3 cup vanilla non-fat yogurt
1/188 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Few drops of vanilla extract.

Toss the cantaloupe, strawberries and grapes together in a medium bowl. Combine yogurt, cinnamon and vanilla and add to fruit. Chill thoroughly.

     
 

Mexican Black Bean Salad

1 cup brown rice
4 tablespoons red wine or balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons water
4 tablespoons chopped red onion
2 medium garlic cloves, crushed
2 cups canned black beans, rinsed and drained
1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Salt and Pepper.

Bring a large pot with 3 quarts of water to a boil. Add rice and boil, uncovered about 10 minutes. Drain. Meanwhile which vinegar, oil and water together. Add onion and garlic. Add to rice with the beans and cilantro and toss with a fork. Add salt and pepper to taste.
